A Sentimental Journey
Walk Main Street in 1910 Plymouth and meet the
movers and shakers that built the "City of Homes" into a vibrant
southeast Michigan community. The Museum's Main Street is "populated"
with residents going about their daily business, attired in period
clothing and surrounded by period-correct objects. There's even some
period dress-up accessories for young ladies to try on. Vignettes
imitate Plymouth images found in the Museum's archives.

We're celebrating 1910 because it's the year that
the Plymouth Historical Museum's benefactor,
Margaret Dunning,
was born. While Margaret was born June 26, 1910, in Redford Township,
east of Plymouth, she has spent the last 84 years here, creating an
incredible legacy of philanthropy. Margaret donated the money to build
the current Museum building in the early 1970s; she stepped forward
again in the late 1990s with a substantial donation to build an addition
to house the Weldon Petz Lincoln Collection.
The Museum is now 26,000 square feet depicting Plymouth's history and
highlighting the life of Abraham Lincoln.
Step back in time and visit the Plymouth of a
century ago. You might find yourself in vintage clothing riding in a
Model T! |

The Museum is open 1–4 p.m. Wednesdays, Fridays,
Saturdays, and Sundays. The Plymouth Historical Museum is located
at 155 S. Main Street, just north of downtown Plymouth. Admission is $5 for
adults, $2 for students 6-17, and $10 for families. Groups can be accommodated,
but please call 734-455-8940 for a reservation.
Our thanks to the donors for this
