Description Both the Plymouth High School and the nearby Methodist Church burned down on March 31, 1916. The Plymouth High School is on the left and the church is on the right. Until a new building was constructed all students had to continue their studies in various buildings in the village, including the Kate Penniman Allen's carriage house, the Knights of Pythias Hall, John Gale's Store and in the Christian Science Church.

The Methodists, to the amazement of the community, immediately built a temporary church building across the street in the park. This church building seated 300 people. So quick was the construction that not one service was missed.
