Teetotalers Tea

Teetotalers Tea - Home - Plymouth Historical Museum - Carrie_Nation_1910-e1508856948700

Carry A. Nation comes to Plymouth! Carry was a radical member of the temperance movement, which opposed alcohol before the advent of Prohibition. She was notorious for marching into a bar, singing and praying while smashing bar fixtures and stock with a hatchet. The 18th Amendment (Prohibition) took affect in 1919, one of the subject's we will highlight in our 100th anniversary commemorative special exhibit "Votes and Vice."

Jackie Schubert, a member of the Plymouth Living History Troupe, will bring Carry Nation to life during a rip-roaring portrayal of the activist in our "Teetotallers Tea."

Enjoy tea delicacies catered by Diann’s Catering, while sipping the Museum’s own special tea, “Mary’s Blend”—a tantalizing cherry and almond black tea blend in honor of Mary Todd Lincoln. Ticket holders who arrive at the Plymouth Historical Museum before the tea are welcome to visit the Museum's "Votes and Vice" special exhibit, which will be open to the public January 16-June 16, 2019. Doors for "Teetotalers Tea" will open at 1:50 p.m.

This tea is sponsored by Ellen Elliott.

Tickets go on sale to members of the Plymouth Historical Museum on Monday, December 3, 2018. Members of the public can purchase tickets beginning on December 17, 2018.
