1.jpg Experience the Civil War during the Plymouth Historical Museum's History Kids Kamp!

Children can experience aspects of the Civil War at the Plymouth Historical Museum during our annual History Kids Kamp! Kids spend the day recreating what life was like during the war, including dressing in period clothing, getting their picture taken, and performing in a chore race consisting of old-fashioned tasks from the mid-1800s. There is also a scavenger hunt, which entertains and educates while they spend time searching for clues to solve their puzzle. Children are able to chat with Civil War soldier reenactors who answer questions, demonstrate marching, and much more. Every child gets a commemorative t-shirt to wear for the day, and the boys get an opportunity to "enlist" in the army.

This year the History Kids Kamp took place on August 13th, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. This fun event was part of the Plymouth HIstorical Museum's exhibit "Rediscovering the Civil War," which strives to educate people about America's most infamous and celebrated war. The exhibit is on display until the end of October, 2011.
